About the role
As a Supervisory Wildland Firefighter (Wildland Fire Operations Technician) your duties will include but are not limited to the following: Provides oversight during initial and extended attack fires, directs fireline activities and tactics of dispersed firefighters, resources, equipment, and aircraft. Assigns missions to ground and aviation wildland fire suppression resources. Coordinates with the Dispatch Office regarding current fire behavior and fire conditions, release of resources, and other logistical considerations. Participates in incident objectives, strategies and tactics to provide for safe operations and cost-effective incident management. Develops performance standards and evaluates work performance of subordinates. IMPORTANT, Special Consideration: The island of Hawai'i can be subject to high concentrations of volcanic fumes, especially sulfur dioxide gases and particulates.
