Biomedical Equipment Support Specialist

The Biomedical Equipment Support Specialist (BESS) ensures the safe, reliable, efficient, and effective function of medical equipment, instruments, devices and systems used for therapeutic and diagnostic patient care and treatment in the medical center and its associated clinics. The medical equipment, instruments, devices, and systems defined as items used or involved with patient diagnosis or treatment range from simple individual devices to complex systems which span a number of occupational categories (electrical, mechanical, refrigeration, chemical, etc.) and employ high levels of technology. Typical duties include, but are not limited to: Installs, modifies, troubleshoots, maintains, tests, calibrates, adjusts, overhauls, and repairs a wide variety of electronic, mechanical, electromechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic medical, laboratory, and dental equipment.
