About the role
The major duties of the job include, but are not limited to: Performs standard diagnostic tests or procedures such as venipuncture and finger stick to collect blood specimens according to written protocols or as directed by the physician or other professional staff. Adheres to safety, infection control, and universal precautions always while drawing blood. Enters all requests into the hospital computer system using multiple formats. Builds manifests for Send Out testing and gathers, aliquots, labels, and packages specimens for courier pickup. Performs all aspects of sample storage, packaging, and other requirements regarding the shipment of diagnostic specimens and infectious substances adhering to Federal DOT (Department of Transportation) and IATA (International Air Transport Association) Regulations.
