About the role
This position is located in the Network Management Branch, Office of Information Systems, Information, Policy and Public Affairs Division. Provides the Bureau of Prisons with comprehensive computer, computer networking, and information system support. Acts as a technical expert in computer hardware, Local Area Networks (LANs), commercial personal computer software, custom personal computer programming, and telecommunications software and must possess a mastery of these specialty areas. Develops software and evaluates new technology within guidelines specified by the Office of Information Systems that will support all Bureau personnel. Designs, implements and maintains complex mission-critical in house programs and sub routines, including generalized record selection programs, linkage routines to operating systems, data communications systems and check point/restart procedures. Performs major diagnostics and troubleshooting on personal computers, telecommunications and related equipment
