About the role
As a Supervisory Marine Accident Investigator - Deputy Director (Direct Hire),GS-1801-15, you will perform the following major duties: Identifies critical marine safety issues and works to improve accident investigation procedures. Provides authoritative advice to the OMS Director and staff on accident launch decisions and monitors time-critical activities in an accident investigation. Oversees the direction and technical accuracy of marine accident investigations and reports. Directs marine investigators during investigations and hearings, serves as a technical panel member during public hearings, Board Meetings and other events. Oversee the investigative staff throughout the accident investigation and report development process as they develop factual reports, analyses, findings, probable cause statements, and safety recommendations.
