Maintenance Mechanic

This is a bargaining unit position. This position is represented by AFGE. Please note that as provided for in the AFGE/VA Master Agreement the FIRST area of consideration for this position will be permanent employees of the local facility in which this position is being filled, the SECOND area of consideration will be employees at other VA facilities, and the THIRD area of consideration will be all other eligibles. Performs a variety of comprehensive preventive inspections, maintenance and repairs to ensure the cemetery's buildings and structures are consistently maintained in a condition that exemplifies the beauty of a national cemetery. Incumbent receives work assignments from the cemetery foreman through written and/or oral instructions. Incumbent plans and carries out work assignments according to preventative maintenance schedules by maintaining individual records, entering dates of spot-checks, conditions observed, repair work accomplished and informing the foreman when deficien
