The NIH Clinical Center Department of Laboratory Medicine (DLM) located in Bethesda, MD offers laboratory diagnostic support in the areas of immunology, hematology, phlebotomy, microbiology and chemistry. DLM is designated by the CAP as a full service laboratory and serves as the clinical laboratory for all in/out-patient testing for the Clinical Center and NIH Institutes. The NIH Clinical Center Department of Transfusion Medicine (DTM) located in Bethesda, MD works to achieve the goals of the Clinical Center (CC) and the NIH Intramural Research Program (IRP). DTM includes an FDA-licensed blood-collecting facility, a licensed transfusion service, and diagnostic testing laboratories.
