About the role
This position is located in the Office of Legal Policy (OLP), U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ). OLP develops and implements significant Department policy initiatives; coordinates regulatory actions across DOJ components; manages special projects implicating multiple components; and serves as the principal policy advisor to the Attorney General and Deputy Attorney General. The Chief Artificial Intelligence Officer (CAIO)/Chief Science and Technology Advisor (CSTA) serves as the Department's senior executive advisor on artificial intelligence (AI), emerging technologies, science, data, forensic technology, and related technological innovation. The incumbent is the principal official responsible for coordinating enterprise AI governance, promoting responsible innovation, managing AI risk, and ensuring compliance with applicable law and federal policy guidance.
