About the role

Shares primary responsibility for implementing requirements as they relate to operation of domestic regulatory oversight and inspection programs oriented to food safety, food defense, other consumer protection and export certification needs. Participates in planning and executing policy for the FSIS enforcement programs to promote compliance with and enforcement of meat and poultry inspection laws and regulations. Shares fully in planning and developing overall nationwide objectives and administration policies and procedures. Shares in making critical decisions regarding the conduct, coordination, and integration of program operations conducted by the numerous organizational segments. Shares in leading and coordinating all Agency recall activities in support of the Agency's public health, food safety, and food defense mission.
