About the role
This is a secondary law enforcement position. Under the authority of the Aviation and Transportation Security Act (ATSA) (PL 107-71, November 19, 2001), the incumbent functions as a Federal Law Enforcement Officer and performs the duties and responsibilities assigned to Federal Air Marshals. The Law Enforcement/Federal Air Marshal Service (LE/FAMS) promotes public confidence in the security of our Nation's transportation domain by detecting, deterring and defeating criminal and terrorist acts. To achieve this mission, LE/FAMS deploys Federal Air Marshals on U.S. aircraft world-wide; conducts protection, response, detection, and assessment activities in airports and other transportation systems; and maintains TSA's state of preparedness and coordinates incident management. This position serves as an Assistant Supervisory Air Marshal in Charge (ASAC).
