Recreation Assistant

Provides beginner and intermediate instruction for the woodworking and crafts program. Performs and/or assists other recreation assistants or specialists in the operation and maintenance of the Wood Hobby Shop or Arts and Crafts. Provides assistance to facility users by explaining function and features of equipment and recreational activities available. Inspects facilities and equipment to ensure safe conditions and cleanliness. Performs minor repairs and adjustments. Issues and collects equipment. Collects, safeguards and deposits fees received from customers. Assists is conducting inventories, maintains records. As necessary, demonstrates basic woodworking techniques used and ensures that safety rules are adhered to. Checks building for security/fire and notifies Fire Department upon closing/securing the shop. Assists in matting and framing, engraving and other areas of Skills Development.
