NURSE (CLINICAL/PEDIATRIC)

Perform professional nursing duties in the care of hospitalized pediatric patients according to the Nursing Scope and Standards of Practice and the Standards of Pediatric Nursing Practice. Review prescribed medical orders and clarifies prescribed orders, as needed; implements the medical orders as prescribed. Prepare pediatric patients for medical, surgical and/or diagnostic procedures; provides nursing care to pre and post-operative, acute and chronically ill patients. Utilize medical devices and equipment, such as but not limited to, resuscitation devices, feeding tubes and pumps, intravenous machines, nasal and gastric suction devices, and hyper/hypothermia cooling and warming equipment. Administer, handle, and monitor chemotherapy agents to pediatric hematology/oncology patients to ensure safe, effective delivery of prescribed treatment regimens. Provide health teaching and discharge planning based on current scientific knowledge, research, epidemiological principals and the family
