About the role
You will support the overhaul and repair of U.S. Naval vessels through surface preparation and application of high performance preservation coating, for nuclear and non-nuclear naval vessels and equipment. You will enhance the structural integrity of the vessel, significantly reducing system failures or the need for ship repair and maintenance. You will use drawings, specifications, technical manuals, engineering standards, and manufactures’ instructions to identify the location and assemble blast equipment in dry-docks, piers and on vessels. You will ascertain type and method for surface preparation, considering variables such as current surface profile; surface profile requirements; intended coating application; cleanliness; tolerances; and metal loss. You will use hand or mechanical means, such as, scaling, sanding, scraping, chemical removal, and washing of metal, wood, and plastic surfaces for additional preparation to obtain required profiles.
