About the role

Responsible for the review of cases referred to the Bureau's Certification Review Panel (CRP) to determine the applicability of federal civil commitment statutes. Conducts a detailed review of cases, to include extensive review of historical data (reflected in the pre-sentence reports and other documentary sources), clinical data (derived from the psychology record) and actuarial test data. Interprets actuarial and psychometric test data utilizing behavior science research relevant to validity and reliability of the instrument used. Prepares recommendations to the CRP regarding applicability of sexually dangerous person provisions under Federal statute. Responsible for knowing and applying the review protocol employed by CRP to guide determinations in the review of cases.
