About the role
Responsibilities include handling the magistrate docket which hears misdemeanors cases from various federal installations and lands within the District of Maryland and which duties include: (1) responding to suppression and discovery motions; (2) handling a high volume docket, including a high trial volume; (3) training military Special Assistant United States Attorneys; (4) advocating at sentencings for the interests of the government and victims; (5) maintaining professional relationships with law enforcement and the defense bar; and (6) training law enforcement officers from many agencies, including the National Institutes of Health, United States Park Police, and the National U.S. Park Rangers, regarding federal practice and investigation. Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.
