About the role
The Associate General Counsel (AGC) for the Civil Rights Division (CRD) serves as the chief legal adviser to CRD. The incumbent is responsible for the provision of legal services to support the enforcement of: Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, Sections 1553 and 1557 of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. The AGC for CRD enforces civil rights laws, federal conscience and religious protection laws. The incumbent also has responsibility for enforcing nondiscrimination provisions protecting drug and alcohol addicts in need of certain health services and is responsible for overall management and supervision of the CRD.
