LIBRARIAN

Provides reference and research assistance to library customer. Performs original or modified descriptive cataloging in machine-readable cataloging format where the bibliographic characteristics are relatively easy to determine and cataloging decisions are made within standards such as the current Anglo-American Cataloging Rules (AACR2) and by comparison to the local database or authority file. Participates in collection management and evaluation for the library by developing factual data, such as usage statistics for certain journals or books, frequently asked reference questions, or descriptions of problems with particular software. Develops and implements long range automation plans for the library within the parameters defined by the supervisor. Assists the senior librarian in publicity and marketing of library services.
