About the role
Perform scientific assessments and make recommendations concerning corrective actions for identified weaknesses or deficiencies in drug detection programs involving chromatography/mass spectrometry drug detection methods. Solve novel and/or obscure problems within the DoD Drug Demand Reduction Program. Oversee development of new methods for identifying and measuring emerging drugs of abuse and their metabolites in humans. Develop new methods in chromatographic science using Gas Chromatography Mass Spectrometry (GCMS), Liquid Chromatography Tandem Mass Spectrometry (LC/MS/MS) and Time of Flight Mass Spectrometry (TOF). Perform solid and liquid phase extractions and prepares solutions appropriate for the derivatization of drugs and drug metabolites from urine specimens. Ensure proper maintenance, calibration, and documentation of all analytical chemistry laboratory equipment. Serve as a technical and scientific subject matter expert in the troubleshooting of existing and new drug extract
