About the role
As an Archives Technician, you will: Provide written and oral "first-line" reference assistance and consultation, responding to all forms of inquiry concerning NARA's broad range of archival holdings, in original or surrogate format, by using complex finding aid systems and related archival sources, in both electronic and analog formats. Review information about records prior to making them available to researchers, ensuring that access restrictions are being followed. Participate in the digitization efforts of archival holdings for public access and permanent retention following broad NARA guidance and procedures. Evaluate the physical condition of records in the course of other duties and alerts supervisor or other designated staff to condition problems that limit access or threaten the safety of records. Pull and refile records according to NARA policies and procedures. Monitor research rooms and provide customer service. May carry out other archival duties as assigned.
