About the role
This position serves as an expert Chemist and direct support to the Senior Science Officer with responsibility for managing the general and specific scientific and technical programs of the Directorate, a comprehensive program for monitoring and improving the quality of scientific and technical activities of the CBP field laboratories, and dealing with other CBP Headquarters offices, field offices, and other federal and international agencies. This position starts at a salary of $121,785.00 (GS-13, Step 1) to $158,322.00 (GS-13, Step 10) Major duties of this position include: Serving as an assistant to the Senior Science Officer, participating fully with those individuals in providing direction for nationwide programs involving operations relating to the chemical and physical laboratory analysis of imported merchandise and illicit substances and the administration of technical programs which support the policies of CBP and trade and customs laws.
