FORESTRY TECHNICIAN

You will serve as a crew member involved with a variety of prevention, detection, wildfire suppression, pre-suppression, and prescribed burning duties. You will assist in directing activities in a complex fire environment both wildfire and prescribed fire, and helps to train other participants. You will perform wildland fire line activities such as line construction, hose layout, operation of portable pumps and water handling accessories, breaking up of fuel concentrations by lopping, and scattering brush, wood, etc. You will carry out specialized assignment such as backfire or burnout, mobile and stationary engine or other specialized equipment operation, construction of Helispots, specialized Helitack operations and hover hookups. You will perform preventive maintenance tasks on equipment and other housekeeping duties associated with assigned facilities and ranges.
