About the role
Serve as a Lead Firefighter (Hazardous Material Technician/Basic Life Support) for the installation with the responsibilities of directing the work of a firefighting crew responding on a firefighting apparatus. Assume full responsibility within training and certification levels for all firefighting, rescue, and medical and hazardous materials incidents, in the absence of a supervisor. Drive and operate firefighting vehicles, such as pumpers, aerial ladder trucks, and Hazardous Materials response vehicles. Perform structural firefighting duties for a variety of facilities, which may include large multistoried buildings, research/development and related industrial areas, and storage facilities. Continuously evaluates the effectiveness of the situational response and recommends potential alternatives or supplementary actions. Initiate established medical protocols in providing basic life support. Performs fire crew inspections of installation facilities.
