About the role
Serves as the Bureau's chief action officer for assigned countries within the Near Eastern (NEA) and African (AF) regions on issues of democratic governance and respect for human rights from various organizations. Ensures effective communication of U.S. policy developments and guidance to U.S. mission, foreign mission, non-government organization (NGO) and international organizations personnel. Provides advisement on region-specific issues and problems about democratic governance and respect for human rights; develops and proposes resolutions of policy and procedural issues and coordinates implementation of USG policy decisions. Participates in interagency working groups and meetings and makes recommendations to these bodies and to Department management on new policies or approaches that will assist in achieving policy objectives.
