About the role
Continuously observe, monitor, and assess infant's condition; interpret signs and symptoms of deterioration in condition; and take corrective action. Assist the physician with complex and potentially life-threatening procedures such as insertion of arterial and venous catheters, chest tubes and endotracheal tubes. Prepare and accompany infants for diagnostic surgical procedures outside of NICU as well as prepare critically ill infants for transport by ground or air-evacuation. Administer intravenous fluids including hyper alimentation, intralipids, and blood products; and deliver prescribed nutrition by oral, gavage, enteral drip or intravenous routes. Operate and monitor technical equipment, such as transcutaneous oxygen monitors, oximeters, ventilators, infusion pumps, syringe pumps, defibrillator, radiant warmers, GE monitor, iSTAT Blood Testing machine, and blood warmers.
