About the role
Duties of the Chemist include, but are not limited to the following: Planning and directing the development and modification of field sampling procedures, sample preparation, and analytical methods for highly complex, unusual, or novel samples and situation Determining the best sampling and sample storage procedures to allow completion of a technically valid assessment of worker exposure, based upon the stability and chemical properties of the substance and its proposed sampling medium. Writing technical papers for publication and/or agency use, describing the methods developed and other technical work of the laboratory. Devising a new or modified method using analytical techniques and/or computer applications, chemistry principles, or altering of sampling protocols Participating in the development of health standards by providing expert advice on monitoring and chemical issues.
