Maintenance Mechanic (Leader)

Performs the following duties as assigned: The incumbent is responsible for accomplishment of the work assignments within the schedule established by Maintenance & Operations Shop Supervisor and the Maintenance and Operations Foreman. The incumbent accomplishes his/her tasks with little or no supervision. Work assignments are by planned projects and oral instructions. The incumbent is responsible for reviewing maintenance and repair plans, monitoring preventative maintenance work tasks, and inspection of the daily work tasks performed by the Maintenance Shop employees across all campuses. Ensures workers are aware of proper trade techniques and practices and explains safety precautions to be followed while setting up machinery and equipment, and giving instruction in the use of layout techniques, power tools, materials, measuring devices, precision instruments, and safety devices.
