About the role
Major duties of this position include but is not limited to: Utilizes and selects correct materials, tools and trade methods for repairs. Mills heavy lumber, cuts bevels, rabbets, chamfers, grooves, and compound miter joints. Evaluates problems and determines how or what repairs to make and the type and grade of wood or appropriate wood substitute materials. Sets up and adjusts stationary power equipment by checking and adjusting, for example, the "squareness" of the blade on a radial arm saw in relation to the surface of the cutting table. Performs preventive maintenance inspections to determine safety hazards, damage and repair requirements. Utilizes the common carpenter's rule/square in terms of measuring material to the nearest 1/32 of an inch. Utilizes and interprets equipment manuals, catalogs, sketches/drawings for gaining information to effectively assemble or repair equipment, doors, windows and hardware.
