ATTORNEY-ADVISER (GENERAL)

For vacancies filled at less than the full performance level of the position, duties will be developmental in nature. The primary practice areas will include federal contract acquisitions, fiscal law, and contract and vendor pay. Additional practice areas may include interagency agreements and assisted acquisitions, commercial bankruptcy, and debt collection. Interpret and applies legislation, regulations, decisions, and opinions affecting DFAS in the major legal fields of contracts, fiscal, vendor pay, audit, accounting, finance, and other legal matters concerning DFAS. Independently studies and resolves legal issues that may involve settlement of questions of statutory interpretation, or interpretation of regulations having the force and effect of law, for which no precedent, court or agency decisions exist. Conducts research and renders preliminary opinions where little or no legal precedent exists in the development and formation of DFAS policy necessitated by the passage of new le
