About the role
This position is part of the Pathways Internship Program and is located at the Central Office, Regional Office or an institution within the Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP). Observes and/or assists the Chief of Social Work, the Health Services Administration, Unit Manager or Case Management Coordinator in the following areas: community planning, which may involve community treatment placement, state hospital placement, medical hospital placement, or other aftercare situations. Initiates contacts with patients admitted for various studies explaining the availability of social services and acts as a liaison between patients and community services. Provides family counseling, individual counseling, and group counseling. Orients new staff, residents, and consultants as to the role of the social worker. Prepares progress reports and identifies and addresses Central Inmate Monitoring concerns.
