About the role
Assists the Assistant Secretary for Occupational Safety and Health in providing leadership and overall direction in policy formulation, program operations, and establishment of program objectives within specific accountable areas. Responsible for areas including compliance programs, OSHA field operations through Regional Administrators, and construction and engineering issues. Supports the Assistant Secretary in maintaining inter-agency liaison with other Federal departments and agencies regarding proposed program initiatives and plans that span inter-governmental lines. Enforces Safety and Health regulations and standards, overseeing OSH programs, and making decisions aligned with the OSH Act to maintain public trust. Reviews plans and programs for the assigned areas and evaluates operational achievements to ensure consistency with the policies and responsibilities of the Assistant Secretary and the Secretary concerning the Occupational Safety and Health Act.
