About the role
The Media Bureau Chief performs the following functions: Directs and administers Media Bureau programs and activities involving the regulation of broadcast, cable, satellite, and emerging media services, ensuring alignment with applicable statues, Commission policies, and Administration priorities. Provides authoritative legal and policy advice to the Chairman, Commissioners, and senior agency officials on complex media-related communications law matters, including statutory interpretation, administrative law and constitutional considerations. Oversees the development, clearance, and issuance of Commission-level items, including Notices of Proposed Rulemaking, Reports and Orders, and Public Notices, ensuring legal sufficiency and policy consistency. Exercises final authority over Bureau adjudicatory licensing actions, including review and disposition of applications, transactions, petitions, and complaints within the delegated authority.
