About the role
Responsible for traveling throughout their respective region providing complex specialized dental services for federal prisoners confined at the facilities within the region. Provides in-house specialized dental services (e.g., complex exodontia, biopsies, pre-prosthetic surgery) at the request of local institutions within their respective region and as approved by the Regional Dental Consultant. Performs all duties in accordance with current accepted dental practices and when necessary refers selected cases to outside consultants or specialists. Provides timely and appropriate care to inmates at facilities within their respective region in the absence of the Chief Dental Officer or staff dentist. Provides additional clinical support to understaffed dental programs and/or provides in-house advanced surgical care for inmates as appropriate in the dental clinical setting.
