Serves as an alter ego for the AIGI directing the development or modification of planning, coordination, and control of field investigative activities related to criminal fraud, white-collar crimes, abuse of public trust, and employee integrity and misconduct. Organizes and manages the field divisions to align with program needs and the Inspector General's priorities and initiatives. Exercises authority to examine all SSA programs and to initiate investigations. Develops plans for field investigations, including resource requirements; manages the full scope of field investigations, including program evaluation; and presents accomplishments and recommendations based on valid and meaningful reporting criteria to the Inspector General, the Commissioner of Social Security, and Congress.
