About the role

Individually and through staff, counsels and advises the FDIC's Division of Risk Management Supervision (RMS) and Division of Depositor and Consumer Protection (DCP) management and staff regarding Risk and Compliance examinations, visitations, and other supervisory functions. In collaboration with the Regional Counsel, supervises the preparation of legal opinions for RMS and DCP in connection with potential unsafe and unsound practices, breaches of fiduciary duties, or violations of laws or regulations that may be discovered during examinations or visitations. Ensures that the factual record supports such legal opinions and that all legal authorities have been researched thoroughly. Reviews and edits such opinions for substantive, strategic, and policy reasons. Coordinates interpretations of banking and consumer protection laws and regulations with other designated subject matter experts (SMEs) in the Legal Division to ensure consistent interpretations of these laws and regulations.
