About the role
Receives, verifies, sorts and classifies, warehouses, and issues a variety of excess surplus property. Conducts extensive review, research, verification and receipt of a variety of routine and complex property. Employs Federal Cataloging Procedures to properly validate or change data elements. Certifies that items are eligible for sale. Reviews disposal turn-in document (DTID) accompanying material. Compares data against property to assure correct information including proper documentation (e.g., stock number, nomenclature, quantity, unit of issue, disposal authority code, DEMIL and condition code). Visually inspects usable property for obvious signs of condition and determines acceptability. Determines condition and reportability and special handling requirements (e.g., hazardous material, precious metals, security, DEMIL, Special focus items, etc.) and assigns appropriate classification instructions for warehousing.
