About the role
The incumbent reports directly to the Director, serving as an Acting Director in his/her absence, and provides complementary leadership in the Congressional and Intergovernmental Relations Office (CRO). The incumbent routinely interacts with Members of Congress, Congressional staff, dignitaries/VIPs, senior government officials, and senior level managers. Working closely with the CRO Director, the position serves as an organizational Deputy and designs, develops and implements congressional communications strategies in support of the Library's strategic, programmatic, budgetary and public policy goals. Provides strategic advice to the CRO Director on congressional and intergovernmental matters including recommending opportunities to advance the Library's mission, and reviewing legislation, committee reports and other legislative documents to determine potential impact on the responsibilities of the Library.
