About the role
The Pharmacist- Controlled Substances/Outpatient - Supervisor at the Miami VA Healthcare System, (Bruce W. Carter VA Medical Center) is responsible for ensuring the safe, legal, and accurate handling of controlled substances while providing direct patient care. Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to: Providing direct oversight and accountability for effective functioning of the inpatient and outpatient controlled substance vaults. Assessing, planning and evaluating the controlled substance pharmacy program to ensure that all VA and DEA regulations are followed. Formulating decisions in planning, organizing, directing and evaluating all operations related to controlled substances to maintain efficiency and safety. Responsible for inventory control of all controlled substances in Pharmacy vaults to ensure total inventory count is conducted and supervised per VHA guidelines. Completes required reporting for any identified discrepancies or loss of controlled substances
