About the role
Conducts independent quantitative economic and public health studies of FDA-regulated products and industries as a basis for forecasting trends, identifying public health needs and impacts, and addressing major problems affecting the Agency. Provides economic and public health consultation to FDA leadership and decision makers. Determines data requirements and devises methods for collecting, analyzing, and reporting data; reviews scientific and economic literature for methods and content relevant to the Agency's mission and public health goals. Provides consulting services and advice on economic, quantitative public health, and other analytic issues to FDA centers, the Office of the Commissioner, and other FDA collaborators as they develop regulatory plans and policy decisions. Develops flexible policy options to address the concerns of those most affected by the Agency's regulations and policies, drawing on program and policy analyses across regulatory and public health dimensions.
