About the role

I. Victim Advocacy: 55%Serve as Victim Advocate for the FAP, providing assistance to and for victims of spouse/intimate partner abuse and non-offending parents/caregivers of victims of child abuse; and educating personnel regarding the most effective responses. Screen victims of domestic abuse, evaluate needs, and provide with information about domestic violence, safe and ways to seek assistance, rights as Navy spouses, and resources/services available. Advise victims before disclosure of the limited confidentiality rule. Coordinate with FAP Case Manager to develop plan of assistance/intervention for the victim/family members. Keep the clinical case manager informed of victim's situation and work with law enforcement and/or command when FAP Case Manager is absent. Provide crisis intervention; assistance securing medical treatment; information on legal rights/resources available; education; transportation; pretrial, trial, and post-trial support/follow-up.
