About the role
You will perform work that involves leading a blasting operation with a team of blasters that will require operating a portable blast pot, blast machine or cabinet type of abrasive blasting equipment inside blast bays and booths to process small, moderate size and large metal or nonmetal items. Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include: Maintaining equipment in optimum operation as specified by preventive maintenance schedules and safety requirements. Operating requirements of rotary deck blast machines, tumble blast machines. Operating timers and switches or foot levers to control or regulate air pressure and the velocity of abrasives. Following specific sandblasting instructions, shop orders, blasting machine manuals, and established machine loading and cabinet maintenance procedures.
