About the role
This is an entry level position in the marine electrical area. At the WG-1 level, the official title is Laborer, at the WG-3, Electrical Helper Trainee and at the WG-5, Electrical Helper. Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include: Assisting journeymen mechanics and workers with work that cannot be handled alone and entry level tasks Being taught on proper usage of power and hand tools common to the trade. Being taught how to correctly install neat cable bands with protective rubber, developing a proficiency in this entry level tasking; installing transit blocks in the transit frame; de-installing cable; installing cable, etc. Taught how to neatly and safely wire two and three wire power and control circuits; receiving training on entry level connectors utilized in marine vessel systems, etc. Fabricating connectors utilized in marine vessel systems, display ability and aptitude to terminate connectors.
