About the role
The Relief Scheduler performs hydro system control operations using centralized control systems to monitor and remotely operate power generating and distribution systems. Work efforts control power production and water releases from hydroelectric generating plants and numerous pumping plants within the Central Valley project (CVP). Calculates water flows; directs necessary revisions to active-day power generation and pumping schedules and changes to future schedules. Monitors and maintains plant system voltage, generation/reservoir levels, and water flows to assure water operations orders and constraints are met. Initiates/revises automatic generation control settings for generators making necessary adjustments to keep regulating reservoirs within operating constraints. Monitors primary and secondary communications circuits to all system plant facilities. Monitors hourly reporting of water quality stations.
