TELECOMMUNICATIONS SPECIALIST

Manages initiatives including the extension of transmission network support to customers transitioning service from specific leased or redundant data networks to the common-user network managed by this division. Provides technical support and guidance to staff in matters relating to the planning and implementation of a wide range of telecommunications efforts that typically extend and apply to an entire organization or major components of an organization. Supports customer requirements, reviews plans, programs, and funding for the management of Defense Information Systems Network (DISN) Optical, Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM), Promina, systems and network management, voice, data, and video. Ensures that the technical and programmatic elements of the DISN transmission layer will form a transmission layer that is efficient, cost effective, survivable, and responsive to user needs.
