SHIPBUILDING SPECIALIST

You will perform evaluation, surveillance and monitoring of all repairs, overhauls, modernizations, alterations and conversions of Navy surface ships. You will conduct daily shipboard safety inspections and make on the spot recommendations to correct unsatisfactory or unsafe conditions, reporting findings to the appropriate party. You will utilize the output of various contractor systems and procedures for cost estimating, labor and overhead, budgeting purchasing and resource planning You will review and evaluate contractor's proposals for the purpose of providing input to and/or negotiating labor and material costs. You will monitor the contractor's cost control systems during contract performance, recommend cost approval or disapproval and participate in negotiations to correct actions.
