About the role
The duties may include, but are not limited to: Providing executive level line management for the planning, initiation and execution of emergency and domestic programs. Provides overall direction and coordination to subordinate staff who are responsible for science-based regulatory policies and decisions. Participates in establishing goals and objectives for assigned programs, developing overall operational plans and reporting on program activities. Serves as consultant and advisor to Federal/State officials, representatives of industry and plant protection organizations. Assesses the severity and scope of an agricultural pest outbreak and determines response strategy. Provides leadership in negotiations with cooperating State officials, industry groups, and other important stakeholders in the development, revision, and adoption of agreements to effect cooperative agricultural control programs nationwide.
