About the role

The Registered Nurse (RN) Maternity Care Coordinator (MCC) coordinates and tracks maternity care for all pregnant Veterans throughout all aspects of the medical center, including Community Based Outpatients Clinics, as well as community vendors and/or agencies. Functions as a liaison between the Veteran, contracted provider, and the local VA medical facility to ensure access to maternity care and appropriate delivery of service. Educates Veterans on a variety of pregnancy-related topics, to include routine medical screenings and authorized VA and community-based resources for maternal, obstetrical, and infant care. Contacts pregnant Veterans on a routine basis (minimally every trimester) throughout the duration of the pregnancy to assess clinical and/or social care needs, facilitating care and services between VA and non-VA care providers.
