About the role
Performs property disposal functions consisting of the receipt, care, temporary storage, control, reissue, and/or other disposition of all items returned as surplus property. Maintains listings of surplus parts and determines if spare or replacement equipment/machinery parts are in stock and included within disposals. Prepares reports of unserviceable items and recommends methods for disposal. Compiles statistical reports and financial inventory documents on excess and surplus property and disposition actions taken. Recognizes surplus properties that may affect the health and safety of others, such as chemicals, hazardous materials, or waste, and ensures appropriate handling, adherence to storage time limitations, and proper labeling for disposal.
