About the role
Assists with medical supply operations by performing a variety of clerical functions to obtain/purchase supplies for the unit. Conducts inventories, quality control and storage required for maintaining stock levels of standard and nonstandard, expendable and non-expendable medical and non-medical supplies and equipment. Establishes stock levels, and prepares and types requisitions necessary to obtain and replenish (a qualified typist is not required). Provides statistical information to supervisory chain regarding expenditures for durable and expendable supplies. Inputs data through the Defense Medical Logistics Standard Support (DMLSS) system to find items, compare prices of alternate sources, order items, and telephonically submits work requests to Facilities Management (FM). Determines whether needed supplies or acceptable substitutes are readily available through the Logistics Division Material Branch or through a mandatory supply source such as Prime Vendor.
