About the role

Advises on matters related to foreign policy issues and national security implications, particularly involving transactions submitted to the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS). Manages the registration of exporters, manufacturers, and brokers under Parts 122 and 129 of the ITAR, implicating compliance with U.S. export laws and regulations. Identifies and prevents violations of U.S. export laws and regulations, supporting remedial action such as, civil enforcement or prosecution of individual or corporate violators. Coordinates the referral of cases concerning possible criminal AECA and ITAR violations to law enforcement agencies. Liaises with the interagency nonproliferation and export control community on arms trafficking and proliferation matters involving the AECA and ITAR.
