About the role
The attorney selected will be assigned to the Civil Division's Affirmative Civil Enforcement (ACE) Unit and will investigate and litigate civil fraud cases brought under the False Claims Act. The ACE Unit handles cases involving all types of government program fraud, including a large docket of health care fraud cases. The ACE Unit also pursues civil fraud cases arising out of COVID relief programs, government contracts and grants, as well as drug diversion cases brought under the Controlled Substances Act. The Civil Division in the District of Connecticut consists of four units. The Civil Division's Defensive Unit defends claims filed against the United States, including tort, medical malpractice, employment discrimination, immigration, and foreclosures. The Defensive Unit also defends claims brought against individual federal employees (Bivens claims). As noted above, the ACE Unit pursues claims involving all types of government program fraud.
